Mystery woman drowned
20.05.2010
THE identity of a drowned woman foundfloating off Coogee Beach yesterday is
still a mystery.
The woman's body was recovered by
rescue helicopter just before 2pm, after
she was discovered by a Randwick
Council lifeguard and other swimmers.
She is yet to be identified but is said to
be aged between 40 and 50 years old,
Pacific Islander or Maori in appearance
with dark hair and a medium build. A
crime scene was established at McIver's
Baths, located on a rock platform between
the Coogee surf club and Wylies Baths.
At least one woman was swimming at
McIver's Baths at the time the body was
located and has spoken to police.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter general
manager Stephen Leahy said the woman
was wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
