Man drowns at Mollymook in tragic Easter weekend
06.04.2010
A 36-year-old man drowned atMollyinook Beach, north of Ulladulla,
on the South Coast yesterday
afternoon.
The man was reportedly swimming
1km north of the flagged area
about fpm when he got into trouble.
An off-duty police officer went to
the man's aid as lifesavers were
called to help.
The man was retrieved from the
water and attempts were made to
revive him before paramedics arrived.
He was one of three people to
drown in NSW coastal waters over
the Easter break.
A 59-year-old male British tourist
also drowned at Crontilla in
Sydney's south yesterday.
The man was pulled from the surf
by lifesavers after he and his wife
were reported missing by their
grandchild after 6pm.
Lifesavers were able to rescue the
woman from the water, but the roan
was found unconscious and not
breathing, Surf Life Saving NSW
said.
Meanwhile, a 43-year-old roan
died after being swept into rough
seas off Fisherman's Beach at Port
Kembla, about 8.30pm on Sunday.
Two policemen entered the
waters after torchlight was spotted
in the water from a rescue lielicopter.
The Yagoona roan was winched
out of the sea but died on the shore,
despite attempts to revive him,
police said.
