Training and education

The Australian Lifeguard Service provides highly trained and skills competent lifeguards to its clients.

Through its relationship with the Australian Lifesaving Academy (the fully accredited educational arm of SLSA that delivers member and community education training) the ALS is able to provide an ongoing staff development program to build our lifeguards skills and knowledge, linking our programs to the national industry standards as set out in training packages.

Lifeguards undertake regular assessments in lifesaving skills and fitness. Simulations are used to test skills and knowledge to our staff to ensure they are job ready to deal with the public and prepared to deal with emergencies when they arise.

Through the ALA, the latest training and accredited programs are constantly being reviewed to ensure that all role requirements are up to date and the ALS remain at the leading edge for its service provision and skills maintenance for its valuable employees.
